Default New member from Indiana cub 149 questions

Hi all.

New member from Indiana. I did introduce myself in the appropriate forum I hope. As I am looking for a 149 with 50" deck I dont know everything possible with them. I know you can put a 3 point hitch on the rear. But is there a rear pto? What about a front pto? Can I add hydraulics to the front and rear? I've seen 1 with a loader and bucket for digging. Is that a complete custom job or is it a kit that can be purchased?

Thanks for any insight
Michael

First, welcome to OCC..........

If you want a item, place an Ad in the Want Ad section describing what you are looking for and give the necessary information.

But is there a rear pto?
There was an optional rear PTO. It revolves opposite for normal applications and thus worthless without a "reverser".

What about a front pto?
All 1x8/9 series tractors had a front PTO.

Although it did not come from the factory with auxiliary outlet(s) for the front/back, with some modifications it could be done.

Front end loaders could be installed. They were made by third party vendors.

There is a rear pto for a manual transmission IH Cub Cadet. You can use a tiller drive as a rear pto. My Dad has a rear mounted mower that gets it's power from tiller drive.

A loader has its own hydraulic system. The hydraulic system on a IH Cub Cadet doesn't have enough volume or pressure to make a loader preform very well.

IH Cub Cadet made a system that has 2 remotes. There is a front mount blade that has hydraulic tilt and lift. Depending on your fab skills you can add a front and rear remotes.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
