Default cw-36 snowthrower shear pin

I just got a cw-36 in good shape to mount on my 126. I looked up the shear pins since its serial # is above 111001 and found that IH-102677 is not available. Any thought where i can get some or a suitable substitute?

I would suggest that you try here..... McMaster-Carr.

Look at the "coiled pins".

Don't think a coil pin is going to work here. The button head is held in by the metal clip.

do not know it this helps but for a shear pin on my woods mower deck i use a low grade bolt like a grade 2-3 . on my unit it takes a 1/2x3 bolt and i have been using these for 10 years now without a problem, and yes they will shear off if you push them beyond there limits. as a matter of fact if you have the rpms up and engage the pto to fast just the tourque from starting will take out the 1/2 inch bolt.

i just go to TSC and get there cheapie bolts for shear pins.

Isn't that a rivet? Looks like it to me - not really a shear bolt??

You don't have to rivet it. It just pushes in.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
