We had a hot, dry summer here in the western NY area (near Buffalo) that took its toll on most everyone's lawns. Back in August, I decided to over seed my lawn to get it looking better, much like it was five years ago when I last over seeded.
I gave the lawn a haircut and had it aerated and seeded professionally. I did all the work myself last time and decided it was too much work for me this time, due to health concerns. I did do all the watering necessary for a month to get the seed germinating though... Here are a few pictures of the lawn, about six weeks after over seeding... |

Gorgeous lawn and property!
I'm just east of Springfield, MA and we've had maybe 1/4" of moisture since the beginning of June. Needless to say our lawn is pretty thrashed and in tough condition with lots of large bare patches. I had to stop watering the turf in August because we've been in drought conditions. So a lot less seat time on the 782 this past summer. Really hoping for plenty of rain in November however.

From the looks of the national weather map this morning, it looks as if you are going to get your rain and then some!!

Cut the lawn and picked up leaves Wednesday. Rain started that evening and continued through Friday morning. Checked the rain gauge...2 3/4 inches!! I wish we had more rain when I over seeded the lawn. Just paid my last water bill...$338.00!!!
The lawn in the back probably won't be cut again for a while due to the lower and mostly flat terrain keeping it wet. Leaves are just starting to fall in the front...lots of seat time ahead picking them up!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
