Default What is this worth? 1976 1650

Morning,

New member here. I have been looking for a garden tractor to primarily tow a steel yard cart to mow stuff. Several hundred pounds. It may also be used to pull some weeds. Found this Cub about 400 miles round trip. Seller says it runs drives and tires hold air. This seller also has a different pulling cub for sale as well, he uses at tractor pulls. If that means anything far as maintaining machines.
Wondering what you all can tell me about it as far as condition, value, durability of its engine and transmission. Any issues with this year? Would it be a good solid choice for my needs that won’t need constant maintenance? Simple to work on and access parts to fix??
There is also Is also this unknown model
1969 about distance as well.

The 1650 is worth 50.00 but in that condition but you will prolly put more into fixing it up, belts, tuneup, new engine mounts and such.It is a great machine. The other may been used as a puller and the drive line may have been altered, you need a deck.

You beat me to it Lou!

Not to burst your bubble, but this offering looks like a money pit to me!
The 1650's were offered with headlamps, hydraulic lifts with dual hydraulics optional.
That Cub does not have the operating levers for the hydraulic lift! should be on the right hand side coming out of then tower!
Hard to tell what all is missing but I see missing headlamps, side panels, busted tail lamps, muffler heat box shield, wrong air cleaner, etc.etc...
Probably no three point lift as well
Looks like at most a parts tractor from here!

I'd ask for a good clear picture of the ser # tag on the left side of the frame by the foot-rest before even considering that Cub.
Could even be a cobbled up 12 or 1450, from what I see, on second thought, I would not even consider it unless it was right next door and I could have the pleasure of commenting on it to the seller!!

There are much nicer Cubs out there for that kind of $$
Keep looking!

I gave $65 for mine at auction a few years back in better condition.
But in defense of the seller,
They don't make them any more and the puller crowd likes them.
it don't have to look purdy to work hard and earn their keep.
400 miles is a ways to travel.
It does have a hyd lift cyl in the picture, so it had hydraulics at one time.
But like the others, I'd pass at that price,
Him being a puller would alert me that maybe he kept all the good parts out of it or swapped parts and selling what is left.
Just saying, buyer beware.

That tractor does have the lift lever if you look close. I do not see the deck or mule drive on his FakeBook listing either. That's about what stuff sells for here in Georgia too.

Being that you are in Florida you have very few options on finding a decent machine at a good price as compared to the folks up north.

I would contact one of our members "Alvy" who is in Winter Haven or go to some shows there looking for a decent machine at a fair price. Alvy may know of something for sale near you. I hear the Florida Flywheelers put on a great show and I'm sure there are others.

FWIW - This is what I do to get a better look at things tough to see in a picture....

A. Place your mouse pointer anywhere on the picture.
B. Click the RIGHT mouse button.
C. A Menu Box will open up.
D. In the Menu Box click on "Open Image In New Tab".
E. You will get a new tab at the top of your browser, click on the new tab and you should see the picture.
D. Hold down the CTRL (control) key on your keyboard and tap the "+" (plus) key on your numerical keypad (over there on the right).
F. Each time you tap the "+", the picture will get bigger. You can use the scroll bars to navigate to what you want to see.
G. If you go too big, tapping the "-" (minus) key will make the picture smaller.

Hope this helps.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
