New member here.
I picked up a used HDS 2165 last year. I kind of knew the deck probably wasn't original equipment. All I could locate was these had at least 48" decks. This one measures about 46". There are 3 blades that all measure about 16". The idler pulley recently froze that caused the deck belt to smoke a bit. I replaced the pulley (best guess from the Agway) and freed up the idler arm (also tight). I wanted to replace the belt but my local Agway CC dealer said without a model they really couldn't help. I ended up wrapping a rope around the pulleys and measured about 103". They happened to have a 954-03039 belt on hand that said it was a 103" x 1/2 belt. It did fit but I'd like to know the correct belt. I've searched out decks from 44" and up but couldn't locate one that matches up to what I have. There is another pulley that appears to be to wide (not a 1/2 pulley) that should probably be replaced (2nd from left in the deck top pic). I'm looking for a good parts diagram and or model number. Any help is greatly appreciated. If this isn't the appropriate location for this please move it. |

To answer my own question after an afternoon of searching, this deck is a 208 (190-208-100) - Cub Cadet 44" Mower Deck.
thanks to those that looked. |

I've been looking for replacement 42" decks for my 2164. Finding the right deck is interesting. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
