Default Electric Lift Bushing

A couple weeks ago my electic lift on my 147 started making a lot of noise and stopped working. The motor would run but the lift would not go up or down. I took it all apart and found that the bearing on the motor shaft was destroyed an the shaft was wobbling back and forth and the gears were not engaging to drive the lift. I ordered a new bearing and got it all assembled. After putting it back together I noticed that the hole at the bottom of the assembly was open and it looked like there should be someting there. I looked in the parts manual and it shows a bushing that goes there to support the bottom of the shaft and aparently to seal the hole. I never took one out when I disassembled it so it must have fallen out at some point and without that support it tore up the first bearing. Well as expected the lift works with no load on it but once I hook up the deck it will not raise it becuase that drive shaft does not have enough support and wobbles. Anyways, I see that the bushing I need is NLA from CC. I've looked around and that does not seem to be a bushing that is readily available. It's quite a difference in size between the ID and OD of the bushing. Can anyone tell me what the OE bushing is made out of and if anyone has been able to source a replacement? Or better yet have a spare laying around?

Any small machine shop would make you one out of oil impregnated bronze that would probably outlast the electric motor. Just take the lift with you so that they can measure the hole and the shaft. I have a good friend that would charge you a sixer for it if you want to drive to DuBois or else send me a drawing with good measurements.

Yeah I was thinking of calling a machine shop nearby. I wish I had a milling machine in my garage. I'll tell ya this tractor is gonna nickel and dime me to death. It's funny you mention DuBois, I just drove past there on my way home on vacation last week. That construction on 80 gets old after 4 or 5 hours.

It was a Sunday afternoon when we went thru but people just don't know how to merge so of course we sat....funny thing was I was thinking on and off about my cub while we were driving wondering if anyone in that area owned one. I had stopped earlier in the day at the summit racing store to get some plug wire for the cub.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
