Ok, have a 1a tiller that had extensions on it that I sold to fellow cubber on here. I got one extension off but the other side was giving me a hard time so I took it to my local cub dealer figuring they'd have no problem getting it off. Let me state that I got the tine assembly off, I couldn't get the extension shaft out. So after $108 the pic is what I'm left with, still have the shaft lodged in there too! To me it looks as if the integrity maybe compromised. I'll get the shaft out, but is there any fix for the deformation in photo?? I kinda want to call the dealer and raise a rukus

If it were me I would not have payed them the $108, to begin with. You took it there for them to perform a service to it, they didn't accomplish what you wanted done. And ultimately may have ruined the part in the process.

Always remember!
They can't make you take your money out of your pocket. If you did not point out the problem before you left the dealer? They will most likely do nothing. Just my two penneys... |

ya, but i wanted my tiller back. They pointed out what they did, but at the time it didn't look as bad as it is. And I didn't see it till after I paid for it, was also raining as we were loading and looking at it. I'm feeling stupid, guess I'll just never do any business there again, sucks as they have had most parts I've needed in stock. Oh well, thanks for the input..

I'm gonna take it back down tomorrow and talk to the owner, hopefully he's there, if not, will talk to whomever is in charge and convey my feelings. Wouldn't be such a big deal to me if I could find a replacement part, but can't, anywhere!

The tube is deformed and you paid for it to be done properly. If you seem to be getting nowhere, suggest a big adjustment in price is in order and you are a regular customer. At all times remain pleasant but firm.(even though you would like to deform the person that did it to match the tube). This keeps you the good guy that was wronged. If all comes to no end, respectfully explain that your business there is @ it’s end and with the internet, others will know of this incident also. Now to answer your original question, you can do quite a bit to straighten the tube. Heat it with a cutting torch and hit it with a large hammer to shrink it down to the original size. You will have to repeatedly test it for size as you shrink it. If you go to far, tap on it hot as you slide it over the stub. Do not try to straighten it on the stub as that will cause it to be too large inside. Knowing what a tiller does and the minor rpm they turn, I don’t see a problem other that you know it is not the way it was. Hope this helps |

Good luck Jude! That just looks nasty! You paid for a service that wasn't completed and poor workmanship on top of that.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
