When I lift the cc36 thrower up to high the driveshaft coming off the gearbox hits the lift bracket and scares the crap out of me every time! It's just barely hitting the lift bracket and was wandering is this normal? If not the only thing I can see to do is to notch the lift bracket where it makes contact or make lift arm stop for the backside of the lift arm. I have only lifted the thrower a few times and caused this but I'm concerned it will do damage. Thanks!!

OK, I've circled in red where the u-joint hits the lift bracket when I lift it pretty high.

1st pic is in down position, 2nd is up all the way, and it only hits the fat part of the u-joint when it's spinning.

OK....for me there are a couple of things..
(A) Is this CC-36 setup as per the manual..... Manual (B) Do you have the correct drive belt - Part No: IH-487043-R1 (C) Are you lifting the CC-36 too high because the Lift rod is too short...???

Sorry for my typo.....I meant CC-36.
My thoughts are....If the belt is too long.....then the GearBox has to set lower on the adjustment slots. If the lift rod is too short, then it will lift higher than normal. AND....it maybe a combination of both

Thanks Rolland! I'm gonna have to look at the drive belt and gearbox position to see what is going on, it's not hitting much so a belt a tad to long would do it.

Just a shot in the dark, but if the drive shaft is turned end for end putting the smaller diameter splined shaft above the bracket, would that help? I don't know if that is possible, but just a thought-- I'm thinking the shaft has the same bore on either end but not sure?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
