I recently aquired a 3235 for the ripe old price of hauling it away! Motor was supposedly locked up. Come to find out it had water in one cylinder. Kohler command 23hp. I am currently in the process of repairing the engine, but was wondering if there is any other known problems with these 3000 sereis tractors?

No responses in 12hrs time is a good thing I suppose. Must not be any major problems!

the 3000 series is pretty tried and true... I've heard of a few people tearing out the locking differential but by their own admission they were doing things that they should have been using a larger tractor or truck.

Those big Kohlers are nice, I haven't heard of much going wrong with them.

Make sure that if it has the differential lock option, you don't engage it while it's moving. That's how they're being damaged, owners not reading the manual.

I will keep that in mind! Once I get it up and running I have a snowplow off a different cub that Im gonna fabricate to fit till I can afford and find a the correct front hitch and plow setup. Unfortunatley this tractor is not equipped with the aux hydraulic ports, so I will be trying to install those also.

all the aux ports makes those things super sweet, front, mid, rear... nice.... there's a guy who works with my wife that's got a '04?? with the liquid cooled Kawasaki and he loves it. I think it's got over 800 hours with no issues.

Once I get her together and cleaned up, I will try and get some pics up. It sat outside for several years in the weather, so its a little rough looking. It has somewhere north of 2000 hrs on it right now!

The 3235 is a good choice, they are a tuff cub, I have had mine for a little over 5 years now and have had a few issues with it.
Bolt worked loose in the ring gear and took out the rearend, hydro line blew under tractor leading up to power steering pump, PTO pully bent. Changeing the PTO belts is not a fun job. I have worked mine hard and it still lives on. Here are a few photos of my work horse ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You don't want to break one of the hydraulic cylinders as I found out the hard way, they are quite spendy to replace. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
