Finally had some time to put the Brinly box scraper together that I ordered from Home Depot.
First off, Home Depot must find the cheapest shipping known to man. These boxes looked like they went through war. The only issue I had was the lack of a couple of carriage bolts, not sure if they were lost in shipping or missed when packaging. I didn't get a chance to test her out yet. Missing my sleeve hitch pin and have a charging issue on the 147. Hopefully this coming weekend will be nice. ![]() |

That thing looks pretty good and bigger than I thought it would for a 38" blade.

Scraper looks good, is the bracket off the rear of sized for a concrete block for additional weight? Does the handle engage/ disengage the ripper teeth? I think I remember you posting somewhere you got if for $189 and free shipping? Looks to have been money well spent!

The handle on top pivots the blade left or right, you have to manually remove the ripper bar if you don't want it. Overall the blade itself is pretty sturdy, I have my doubts about the weight bracket and ripper bar lasting but for light duty grading I should be fine. |

Light duty yes and watch it if you use the scarffers/rippers,hang a root or medium size rock may result in frustration. Old school Brinly rear blade/tool bar were the "bomb" and super duty built...very nice original condition 147 you have there!!!

How deep do the ripper teeth go in the ground before the blade touches ?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
