102 charging problems
I just finished restoring a 102. I tore it right down to the frame and rebuilt the motor. It fires right up and runs and drives great. However, when I shut it down the battery is completely discharged. I checked the wiring diagram and everything seems correct. I tried a different voltage regulator, didn't help. I have a different starter/generator I will probably try next. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? It only takes 5-10 minutes to discharge the battery.

Is the VR grounded properly? might have to scrape some paint away to get a good gound.

I was thinking it might be a grounding problem. I put the paint on pretty heavy. I'll take it off tomorrow and try scraping some of the paint and make sure I got a good ground. I'll keep you posted.

Here is a "laymen's" suggestion.
Once the tractor is shut off, disconnect one of the Battery Cables. Pull the cable away from the terminal. Now go back and touch the terminal. If you notice any kind of spark, that indicates a load (short) somewhere. This now indicates you will have to trace this condition down. This is assuming, that you have had your battery checked and is good condition.

Update on 102 charging problems
I went through all the wiring and did not find anything wrong. I did all the tests that you all suggested and didn't find anything. I then changed the S/G with a used one I had and that solved the problem. I don't know what happened to it because it was working when I took the tractor apart. Anyway, it is fixed and I wanted to say thanks for all your suggestions and advice.
