We have about an acre. cubs get a workout. we grow a crapload of potatoes,carrots, etc. We only buy things like milk, cheese, yougurt, and stuff like that. we raise our beef, and vegies, so we save a lot on groceries.

2009 Garden
We are growing on 7 Acres so the Cub gets a good workout. We raise over 65 varieties of vegetables. We sell them at the local Farmers Market in Levelland, Tx. We also have an old Fashioned root cellar that my son and I built from scratch. We can and store a lot of stuff down there. We raise a lot of Blackeye Peas, Pinto Beans, and Green Beans. Our speciality, besides hand shelled blackeyes, is our Pinto Beans. We pick and shell them just before they get ready to dry with the moisture still in them. They have the best flavor and a lot of people have already placed orders for this year. We do not spend a lot of money on seed as we plant from beans bought at the grocery store. They come up better and cost a lot less.

Broke ground on the new garden last Saturday. Boy, do I need a Plow and Tiller for the CUB!!! Our garden this year is 100 x 65. We could have a lot more but this is our first season in this new house so we are starting with that. I may get into some organic farming in the coming years, if I can get a handle on that. Just going to ease into it slowly.
You can see my kids off in the background with the Cub, watering our transplanted trees in the first picture.   A Robin, looking for tasty worms in the freshly tilled soil.  I can't wait till we are beyond the frost danger and I can get some plants in the ground!

Finished planting the garden today and can't wait until everything is ready to eat! I have potatoes, sugar snap peas, bush beans, peppers, brocolli, tomatoes (roma and big boys), lettuce, zucchini, yellow squash, and cucumbers. I also have a separate little pumpkin and watermelon patch. My son enjoys the garden (mostly eating the veggies, but he'll help out too). Hope you all had a nice day. Jason

Id like to see that garden!!! I dont know why the pics aint showin up though. I dont have a camera again,my boss took his back,but do you still want me to post some pictures of that home made hight ajustement lever for the tiller you asked about a loooong time ago??the one the chains hook to. I am getting a really,really late start on my garden I have planted nothing.Im kinda bummed,sure do have a bunch of volnteers from last years garden though,although there spread out everywhere!!! Jason

Jason, I found the problem with posting my pictures...operator error...it was late last night and I was not thinking clearly. LOL
Yes, I would like to see pics of the height adjustment you made...whenever you get a chance. Come on now, with all those great implements you have you ought to be jumping right into getting that garden done! only downside is that they don't actually plant the seeds and plants for you.
