Picture of the Week for August 6, 2012
Cub Cadet 1200
Name - Brian (bocephus1991) Location - Jeff City MO My dad bought this in 1980 or 81 from an IH salesman and a small engine machanic. The first owner bought it for his son to pull with because it was the largest gear drive you could get. He lost interest in it and my dad bought it. I can remember sitting on it when I was 8 or 9 when he brought it to our farm for dad to look at. I mowed with it from then till we lost our farm in 96'. In 1994 it had a short block put in and ran for four years, then it sat from 1998 until 2010 till I started working on it. A friend of mine redid the carb, I stripped and repainted it myself, workng on it for two years when I could afford it. I have new tie-rods, iso mounts, rag joints, rebuilt steering gear, and new tires. It is painted using Vansickle paint.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
