Aftermarket ignition switches? (1512 Diesel)
Any good/bad experiences with the aftermarket Chinese ignition switches? Cub switches are $100 more. For that much money, I'll just put up with having to turn the key multiple times to activate the starter. I still need to try cleaning all the contacts. Have already done the glow plug relay upgrade, so the switch no longer bears the full current.
thanks! |

Did you do the gear reduction starter yet?
Do not buy any Kubota parts from Cub Cadet. Take the KB off of Cubs part number and that is Kubota's number. Here are a few for ya. https://www.amazon.com/Kubota-Tracto...85474071&psc=1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/28494514534...RoCbJ8QAvD_BwE Here's the China knock-off of the Japan switch. https://www.amazon.com/Mover-Parts-I.../dp/B0814MCQ1S For $26 I might have to try that one.

There are no issues with aftermarket switches IF:
* They function the same * They mount the same * They have equal to or better Amperage Ratings.

For $46, I would stick with the OEM Japanese sourced switch. It should last a couple of lifetimes since you have done the glow plug relay mod.

Have to agree w/ 1711...I've had bad luck with aftermarket switches (normally causing problems in mowers I've bought that someone else put an Amazon one in). I think I replaced 2 last winter or the winter before...no issues since.

I'd have no problem paying $46 for a Japanese switch, I'll search around. The Cub parts suppliers were quoting $125. Haven't done the gear reduction starter yet. Once the starter cranks it fires fairly quickly.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
