Sgt 2084
The following (in quotes) is an ad. Based on the information given -- WHAT'S IT WORTH?
"Cub Cadet 2084 SGT for sale:.......- 2084 cub cadet. Low hours CH18 Kohler command engine. New OEM ignition coils, New OEM carburetor, New OEM mechanical fuel pump upgrade, new breather cover and gasket, new battery, new starter, new PTO belt. Tractor comes with oil pressure gauge and tiny tach. Tractor runs great and has been completely serviced. Nice 50" mower with new deck wheels with gator blades. All the plastic is in good shape. Everything works as it should." Also, would attachments (deck and snowblower) from a 1882 easily interchangeable? Thanks |

First the 2084 was only made for one year. This 2084 has been repowered as the 2084 came with a ch20s engine. It also has been modified with the addition of gauges. The mower deck if it is a 50 inch deck will not be wide enough to cut wider than the rear wheels. If I were to check this one out I would first check to see if the head gaskets are not leaking, the rear bolts are all there and are tight. This may be a real gem or not. With all the replacement items noted it may be someone putting lipstick on a pig. As to price I don't know what it may be worth without a thorough face to machine inspection. Also remember it is no longer a true 2084.

Pictures are needed on this one. There are to many things that could go wrong. The mechanical fuel pump, to me, sounds like he may have put a magnum in.

I see it has a cast iron tranny, was it upgraded with the original parts from the aluminum trans that was in the 2084?
Tires in the rear look shorter.

The pictures are correct for the 2084. The hydro was painted black from factory. It came with the Kohller ch 20 like it shows

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
