Default 1720 Throttle Cable Tension Adjustment

I recently picked up a 1720 in pretty good shape given the age. The throttle likes to back down from full on its own. Is there a way to adjust the tension to keep it at higher throttle while mowing? I'm guessing there may be some type of tension screw/bolt on the throttle lever assembly behind the panel. Is removing the gas tank much of a challenge (to get to the back side of the throttle lever)?

Best of luck on your 1720.
If you are near Columbia Md, I would give you a complete 1720 with a 46'' deck for a 12 pack of good beer.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
