Default 18__.......

Where's a good place to compare the features and parts and accessory interchangeability of the 18__ tractors. Everything from wheel sizes to deck and blower attachments, etc.

1861
1862
1881
1882

I'm assuming the 18__is the horse power - what do the last two digits designate? Is there a good cross-reference available?

I'm thinking along the lines of parts tractors.

1861 and 1862 both have hydraulic lift, and the 1862 has power steering. The same variety of decks and other attachments would have been available for both...38" to 50".

There is no 1881. The 1882 is a Super Garden Tractor with longer frame, larger tires, power steering, turning brakes, etc. and would have had a 46, 50, 54, or 60" deck. Some attachments only fit the supers, like the Haban front blade.

Engines, sheetmetal, etc. interchange; hydro pumps and driveshafts will not exchange between a super and a standard GT.

I own an 1882 and the fronts are 18 x 8.5 and the rears are 28 x 12. The ground clearance is about 7". 50" deck, cat 0 3 point, turning brakes, and rear PTO capable(but don't have).

Is the 1882 and up (2082 etc) a replacement for the lo boy series 185 and 184?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
