149 PTO confusion
I just got a 149 yesterday. The PTO isn't set right or the turnbuckle it whines/grinds. The PTO has the brake that's attached to the PTO rod. But when I look at diagrams of the difference of the ptos available to the 149 mine has the 3 prong pressure spring but has the brake as well. The diagram shows that isn't supposed to be that way. Is what I have just cobbled together then?

I will when I get home. How would I know if this PTO wasnt initially a non brake PTO? What's the point in the brake? Can I use a non brake PTO if this is really one with a brake.

IF you go back to that PTO Parts Guide, it says Tractors with Serial Number with 482000 and greater. It was in Aug '73 in Mid-Production of the 1x8/9 Series.
