No crank diagnosis 2nd opinion

Goood day! I have a RZT SX 46 KH Model 17ARCBYN596 that has a starting issue. I had previously diagnosed it as the selonoid, so i got a new one and replaced it, but still had the problem. I thought maybe it was a defective new selonoid so i tested it and i do have continuity when on load, so that eliminates that.

1. While in the seat and brakes pressed, when i push the key/start down i hear a faint click in the ignition module, and at the engine. The engine i have diagnosed that it's the carburetor bowl that is getting charged. So that is not of relevance.

2. Now, if i'm in the seat brakes pressed and i jump the power and neg on the selonoid it cranks.

3. Now, if i'm in the seat brakes pressed, push the key button down and jump selonoid it starts!

Dealer said it is more than likely the ignition module. I am hesitant because it does start with a jump at the selonoid. (touch terminals together)

Also the fuse is tested and good. Battery is fully charged and good.

I hate to go buy a new $300 module and it not be the issue, as there is no returns.

Quit firing the parts cannon at it, as its best to systematically diagnose the electrical flow through the circuits by following the wiring diagram using your VOM meter.
That said, I am not familiar with your lawnmower, but I concur with your theory
that if it runs, the ign system should be ok as you have a cranking problem.

Agreed... it is worthwhile to check the seat, brake, PTO and other safety switches to make sure they function as they should.
