Help. Engine issues
Mower is a xt2 kohler engine smart choke. Turn key and fan belt spins just half a rotation. Replaced battery, new solenoid, and new starter. Checked compression. Take off either spark plugs and kicks over. Adjusted valves and still wont kick over. Held open smart choke and shot some starter fluid in. Fan belt spins when i hold the key on. If I spray starter fluid in and hold the smart choke open it runs. Let go of smart choke it dies again. Not sure what I am missing. Engine only turns with starter fluid. Thanks for any help

it would be possibly more productive if you provided some more info on what
engine you have. I looked up "XT2" and it showed a lawnmower but no "fan belt" just a conventional flywheel fan covered with fan shroud and as far as using starting fluid, its not a good thing to do as it washes the lubricant off the cylinder walls/pistons, and causes detonation, neither are good for an engine Better to use a squirt of gasoline. Does the engine turn over and start/run once primed? |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
