Adapting 3 Point Hitch from a Standard Cub to Super Cub?
Hi guys,
I believe I've heard that the standard Cub Cadet 3 point hitches can be made to fit the Super Cub tractors, so I figured I would ask the experts what's involved doing so. I picked a standard Cub Cadet 3 point hitch up from a nice member here on the forum. It's a model 389 (190-389-100) and it's from a newer tractor because it has the hole in it (and the "raise/lower" decal) for the adjustment rod for the mower deck. One of my Cubs, either the 2084 or 2182 will get the 3 point hitch installed on it. Has anyone done this? I believe it just needs some holes drilled in the 3 point assembly and a longer lift bar/rod. If anyone can help, it'd be very much appreciated. Here's the parts diagram for it: https://www.partstree.com/parts/cub-...ch-hydro-lift/ And here's a similar 3 point hitch that a company sells on ebay that fits both standard and Super Cubs. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cub-Cadet-3...4383.l4275.c10 |

The 190-383-100 Cat 0 Hitch is recommended and will fit both the 2084 & 2182. The best I can see, the difference between 383 and 389, is that the 383 has the rear PTO provision and the 389 does not. Thus, if the rear PTO is of no interest to you, then the 389 should be OK to mount.

I'm not going to be using a rear PTO, so this 389 3 point should work just fine. I thought that the 3 point assembly needed some additional holes drilled in it to use on a Super Garden Tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
