Default Cub Crawler
I was wondering if anyone on here ever made a Cub Crawler? If so, how did you go about it, the drive system, and the tracks?

I sure miss Dan's art work at the show's (at least the ones I've been to), he does the best work I have ever seen. There are also other good looking projects out there too. .

Sorry, I had to add some color in there, but this person did a great job also. I have more cub dozer pic's but I cant find them. UGH !

Dan's is probably the nicest crawler you'll find that's come from a Cub Cadet, plus it seems (but I could be wrong) that it is also the one little machine that you'll find the most technical info floating around on the web; the link above being one of those sources.

You'll have to decide what you want out of the machine & what uses it will take part in. There are only a few ways to effectively steer a track machine though there many more overall designs of a track machine, such as a little Cletrac OC-3 or IH T-3/T-4 to the bigger Cats. Besides the steering, you've got different main frames, transmissions, track frame designs, different track pads/grousers.

There's a gentleman who built a little McCormick T-20 replica for his grandson using a 16 hp Briggs and a Peerless hydrostatic drive, disc brakes to steer and track pads with no grousers or traction design on the pads themselves so it can be driven on the lawn with no damage.

Search away my friend and find a template you like and go from there. Kinda like the guys building the 4x4 articulating machines do in regards to proportions & the main articulation joint.

How is he able to mount that 3 point with the PTO on that cub original? Are you able to do that??

EDIT: My bad, I thought that was a cub original with the scraper but it was a narrow frame
