Cub Cadet 1811 Project
Cub Cadet 1811 Intro
Cub Cadet 1811 - In the beginning... I was given this 1811 by my grandfather back in May of 2014. The above links are videos I have put together to help track my progress. He bought it new and it had a little over 400 hrs on it when I picked it up. It had been sitting in his garage for probably 10ish years so it needed a few things to get running again. After going through and removing all of the nests (assuming mice) from the engine bay, draining/cleaning/refilling the gas tank, new battery and doing a simple carb rebuild, it started right up. He had it completely serviced within a month or two before it had been parked so I wasn't too worried. Fast forward two years of loyal service to me and it is still running strong. Picking it up from my grandpas (5/17/14): Part of the nest (5/17/14): First day of really working on cleanup and assessing what parts I needed to order (5/21/14): Nest gone (5/23/14): Got it running (5/31/14): Put it to work immediately (6/1/14): Decided to give it a desperately needed bath (12/15/15): I then decided to remove the deck in prep of winter duties and to work on reviving the deck for next summer: |

Nice looking 1811, it looks like it has the frame work in the rear for a peco vac.
I have to ask, why is the self on the wall curved?

Thanks! My grandpa has a couple accessories still at his river house that I have yet to pick up. I do believe one of them is a vacuum attachment. I'd like to get some other attachments for it and a set of Carlisle Tru Power tires.

The shelf in the video? It isn't in real life but the GoPro has an aggressive fish eye lens so it skews the shot.

Yea, I was wondering if it was just the camera.

Larsen Lights. PAR-36, Fluted 4.5" LED flood light
Larsen Lights PAR-36
I am a huge fan of LED lights so when I found out someone made PAR-36 replacements, I had to get them. The factory clips would not work with the larger housing so I had to improvise. Light Output Shots |

When you removed the rats nests, did you pull the engine and remove the tins and cleaned the fins? If you did not, I would. They where probably in under them as well.

Congrats on the 1811! I too own one and it is my favorite mower. Yours is a lot prettier than mine! TB

So... I have been working away from home on 7 12s for the past couple months which doesn't leave much time, none, to work on my projects. I hope to get back at it again soon!
Just found out though that the 1811's mower deck is only cutting on one side. I haven't been able to check it out myself (see above) but I want to go ahead and order new belts that I can install when I get back. Anyone know what I will need to order for a 44 inch deck? |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
