Custom hydraulics on 100
As many of you know, I've been working on adding hydraulics to my 100.
I'm using a GM power steering pump running off the back of the engine. To get the rotation correct the pump had to be turned around and I made a jackshaft and used 2 belts to run the pump. Right now I have the relief valve in the pump set at about 700 psi A 2 spool valve off of a JD 317 garden tractor. It will be mounted under the seat since there's nowhere else to mount it where it won't look awkward or be in the way. The lift cylinder will be on the left side of the dash tower because there is not enough room on the right side with the pump there. I had to cut a 3/8"x6" slot in the tunnel for an arm to attach the cylinder to the new rock shaft. This is a pic of the cylinder arm attached to the new rock shaft. Here is the other side of the rock shaft attached to the 3 point lift. This is the lift bracket for my front blade. I'll have to do some work to my lift rod to clear the pump bracket. I still need to make a clevis to attach the cylinder to the rock shaft and make the deck lift arms to weld to the rock shaft and then finish welding everything together. Routing the hoses and trying to make it look clean may be the hardest part of this project. There isn't much room to run the hoses inside the frame.

Thanks guys.
Made a clevis for the cylinder. The end of the rod has been broken off and welded back on so I will try to clean up the weld and make it look a little better. At least they welded it back on straight. Mounted the valve under the seat and started plumbing it. Need to make the hoses from the valve to the lift cylinder yet. I'd like to add a filter to the return line if I can find a small one. New rock shaft. Need to make the pins for the deck lift arms and finish welding it. Started making the levers for the valve. Have to make a bracket for them to mount to and pivot on. They're just mocked up for now.

OK - I have the PS pump, can you fabricate the rest? That looks great, I'd love to do that to my 70 once I get it back together.

Hydralics
Adam
I am really impressed with your system. It seems obvious to me after reading your thread that you are a machinist since you were able to make some of the parts needed for this project. So my question to you is would you be interested in making another set up and selling it? I would be interested if it is something you would like to do. If you are than please contact me at alaskan_extreme@hotmail.com. (I live in Nebraska not Alaska as my email may deceive). I would need a turn key system because my skills include taking it out of the box, bolting it on, and adding fluid. Thats about it. Let me know what you think. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
