Wanted: Wheel Weights, aggressive chains
Hello, this is my first time posting on this forum.
I recently bought a 2182 to use with a blower for snow removal. I am looking for wheel weights that fit. Additionally, I am looking for any sort of aggressive tire chains for my 26.12.12 rear wheels to replace the small ladder chains I have. I am located in Brighton Utah. |

The weight is the main issue. I have 20 plus years with 2182’s and the 451 snowblower. the ladder chains are fine but you will need the chains on every other link ( 2-link) not every fourth link(4-link). I didn’t have any better results with diamond chains either. It was the weight that solved the traction issue. - i have a full steel cab, foam filled ag tires( free to me but I think the turf tires are better for chains) but I would use rim guard tire ballast or beet juice, antifreeze etc. rimguard tire ballast should make each wheel about 130 pounds. I also have the 12 inch cub cadet cement weights. I think they are 75 pound a piece or maybe 50. I have the 2link chains and I have not had any traction issues in the snow. We get wet snow. Once or twice a year it comes in with 2 feet. I blow about 150 yard long drive for me and my neighbor both are gravel. I clear my retired neighbor across the street blacktop drive maybe 50 yards and my father’s paved drive that is about 200 yards long. Have not been stuck once since I added the weight. Steering is an issue when the blower is on the ground. I leave a few inches in gravel so it’s not an issue but turning is easier on paved drives with the blower lifted ( power steering to the rescue) the weighs are easy to find here or on the net as well as chains.

Chains.
I have a set of chains that came on a 2084 I just bought. I’m asking $50 for them. They are on FB marketplace. In Warren.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
