Default What should I offer...106 ?

All I really want is a hood and fenders for my 127 but shipping from the usual suspects costs more than the price of the parts.

That being said, I came across an add for a 106. The ad is about a month old.
Seller states, "parting out cub cadet 106 motor is a k241a crank and piston turn, not sure if it runs ? deck in good shape , 1 small rust hole. make an offer starter & regulator sold".
It appears from the pics that the coil and dipstick are also missing.

My thoughts are to offer $30 for the fenders and hood.
I'll probably kick myself later, but if the tractor is still in the same condition as shown in the pics, what would be a reasonably low offer for the complete unit?

It's worth way more in parts than it is together, if you can get the whole thing for under $125 I'd say you did good. If the fenders and hood were being sold separately I'd say they should fetch $30 to $50 each.

Thx for the advice Tim.

Seller emails me stating that he wants $350 because the tractor is in good shape. Wow, really.
I replied that there are listings for really nice complete, running, and/or restored tractors starting @$425. Followed with an offer of $50 for just the hood and fenders.

I would counter with an offer of $100 for the whole tractor..... I would be a buyer if I could get the whole tractor for $125 to $150.

Internal brake rear ends alone are going for $150 to $175 in my area.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
