Default Learning all the time

I've had a 147 for about 22 years, and, knock on wood, haven't had to do much of anything to it since. The only thing major was the electric lift mechanism breaking, and not being able to use it for much more than pulling things around the yard. I have a model 1 rototiller that was on the 147 that I put on a 149 that I just bought along with a lift on the back from another 149. After getting everything bolted and pinned in place I found the pto belt and found out it was about an inch too short. I'm guessing that the 149 is alittle longer than the 147 so I will need a different belt. I'll go to the auto parts store tomorrow and see if I can get one.

I finally got on the phone and "tried" to find a belt for my tiller. 2 cub dealers in the area, 50 miles east and west of me, didn't have it and couldn't cross reference it to anything. So I called my local carquest auto parts, and they had one that was 1/4" shorter than the one listed in the tech library, so i thought that with the takeup's the tractor has it would work. WRONG. The one I took off my 147 measured 141 1/2in. the one required is 143 7/8, this new one was 143 3/4 and it would barely reach to the center of the sheave on the right angle drive. they're closed today so I"ll go back on monday and see if they have another.

You might want to save your money. The one from carquest will not handle twist and turns of the mule drive. Get the correct belt from cub.

I told the guy at the store what it was for and he said he got this size from Gates farm and lawnmower section. I've tried cub, and tried to contact some of the sponsors at the top of the page noone answers the phone or replys to e-mails.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
