Default New guy from Buffalo, NY

I just wanted to introduce myself to the gang here at onlycubcadets before I post some questions that I have about my Cub. My name's Dave and I got started on the Cub habit when I bought my home in the sticks south of Buffalo 4 years ago. The owner left a 1415 that I started to use to cut the grass. The deck was in rough shape and was missing a wheel mount. I had a friend of mine weld a mount on but only the deck was at his house. I had to cut off the mount because it hit the rear tire. I used it for the first summer and then the deck started to fall apart. I started to research Cub Cadets online. I liked the look of the older Cubs that I saw when I was looking and learning online.

I found a 1250 on Craigslist with a 44" deck and 42" snow thrower in great shape. I forgot exactly how much I paid for it but I think it was around $800. The tractor was freshly painted with new decals. I ran the serial number when I got the tractor and I think it was a 1978 or 1979 model. I love my tractor. I want my son to inherit it when I'm older. It just got new rear turf tires loaded with Rim Guard this year. The deck was in a little rough shape and I started to rebuild it this year. It's not done yet. There are single 25# weights on the rear rims. I will post pictures as soon as I can. This will have to suffice until then.

I can't wait to use all the knowledge here to my advantage and better my 1250. There are some things that I want to do. As a matter of fact, as soon as I am done with this post, I am going to post a few questions if you guys don't mind. Glad to be here. I've used the forum before but never joined until now.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
