Last summer while mowing, the drive shaft broke in my 1050. It destroyed the clutch disc in the process. I replaced the shaft and disc with new parts and now when I let the clutch out I have a real bad vibration. Clutch in, no vibration. Any thoughts? I'm kind of lost on this one.

Did you replace the throw out bearing as well? Did you check the shaft to make sure it is straight? Not much that would cause a vibration, other than a bent drive shaft, bad bearing or a misaligned drive disc. Just replaced the clutch in my 1050, let me know if you have any questions.

Like I said, I used new parts. I rolled the drive shaft, and it seemed straight. But, I didn't replace the throw out bearing. Probably try that. My question, could it be something in the transmission? I really like this tractor, but can't use it in the shape it is in. Thanks for the help.

Is the clutch visibly wobbling when you are experiencing the vibration?

Maybe. I can't really tell for sure as it has to be engaged for the vibration kicks in.

Maybe set the rear up on a couple of jack stands?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
