Default New tractor
Picked up this 2072 about a week and a half ago it came with a good 50c deck and a nice 54 haban power angle blade. I just finished putting new spindle bushings and new tie rod and steering cylinder ends on it also plan on rebuilding the carb and decarbonizing the heads before putting her back into use. I also picked up this 2082 parts tractor last friday and was kicking around the idea of swapping the rear axle and newer style drive shaft into my 2072 to get rid of the rag joint style flex discs. Has any body ever done this swap before?

Yep, did the same thing with my 1210. Put a 1440 drive train into it and a 16HP Vanguard out of a 2160. All bolt in. Clean and re-pack the CV joints while your at it. Replace the CV joint boots if needed. If they are not torn put a zip tie on them where the shaft come out of them. Good time to pull the rear cover off and clean everything. Other than that it's pretty much plug and play.

Man that's two of us that bought 2072 toady! I'm gonna cannibalize mine, to upgrade my 782! Yours is nicer than mine though!

Unless that 2072 is trashed I'd consider going the other way and save it.
