Default spray paint choices?

I’m getting ready to do some painting of parts. The guy that I bought my 1650 from says he used Cub Cadet Paint to redo it. Those cans are like $15 bucks a pop and I have to order them. From the same place they sell IH/case paint at about $1 cheaper. I have a TSC in town that I can get the Valspar Cub cadet paint at and it’s only like $5 a can. I’m not going for a restore but I want a nice durable paint to go on it. I know auto paint will do way better than rattle cans but rattle cans is what I get to work with on a daily driver. So is the CC paint worth the 3x price tag. How close is the Valspar paint to the cub cadet paint? Know it probably would not match up painting a tower then a fender with two different brands. Though say rims compared to fenders is it close enough with the parts not being side by side?

I tried the Valspar, and it's close to a faded out tractor, but the Cub paint is much better, more money, but it's your dollar.

Valspar CC Yellow = wrong color for an IH Cub Cadet...it is sort of orange and matches the newer 2000 series tractors.

The "biege" or cub cadet white that TSC sells is close enough to the earlier IH cubs to be a close match, but not for the brighter white of the late '60's/early 70's models. The cub cadet yellow has more orange in it, as Matt has already stated, and it is quite a stark contrast to the original paint on the IH models.

Actually that matches the white on the 1x8/9 through 82 series better than the earlier white; the earlier white has more of a greenish tint to it, but after 40 years of fading you wouldn't notice. There were three shades of white used: IH 901 from serial number 501-218009 and has a slight greenish tint; IH 902 was used from S/N 218010 to 375938 and is the whitest of the three, but still not 'bright white'; IH 935 white was used from S/N 375939 until the end of IH production of the 82 series, and this is the color that the Valspar 'IH white' is closest to, as it has a beige tint (very obvious if the tractor is outside in the snow). I haven't seen anything to confirm this, but I'm pretty sure CCC used the same shade of white through at least 1985 and probably through 1989.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
