Default 1641 wont charge battery

Hi hope I am in the right area,, I need a electrical schematic so possibly I can find out what is wrong with the charging system on my tractor, or some advice as to what might be wrong. Battery terminals are clean, tractor starts if i charge the battery, pto works, lights work, but no matter what the rpm the battery shows a discharge. The yellow wire coming out of the rear of the engine shows -20 to -30 vdc when referenced to ground. Thanks,,,

The yellow wire has NOTHING to do with charging.

The Red / White comes from the V/R to charge the system (R terminal on Ignition SW). There should be 13.5 to 14.5VDC when measured across the two Battery Terminals.

With nothing out....you have a bad V/R. See your local CC Dealer or the fine sponsors at the top of the page can help you out.

Hi all. I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I'm having a similar problem. The ammeter on my 1711 shows the system is discharging when I kick in the PTO. I cannot find the voltage regulator. Can someone inform me of the location of the v/r on my model?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
