Default 10 hp Kohler question
Hello, I am finishing rebuilding a 10 hp engine. bored .010 , however when I went to assemble the oil pan the rod hits the oil pan. I contacted the supplier and it looks as though the rod is a 12hp.? it seems the dipper rod is longer. has anyone had this problem? I did not get any response from the supplier in Ohio, three phone messages and several e-mails, thanks for any help.

Do you have your old dipper? Measure the length and cut off the new dipper as the other one is. I rebuilt a K241 a couple years ago and had to do the same thing.

The 12HP has a deep pan, and the 10HP is shallow. Yes, a 12HP dipper is longer. I don't see any reason why it can't be cut off like cubs-n-boxers suggested.

shylea 018.jpgI do have the old rod and it is shorter. I only became aware of the deeper pan of 12 hp when I bought my 100 and it had a 12 hp in it, and it went below the frame rails. I thought about cutting the rod , or finding a 12 hp pan. I will try to post a picture . thanks

Did you get your engine balanced? Cutting off the dipper will ruin the balance.
