Not alot of "throw" from my snowthower
Gentlemen;
Got to use my QA42 snowthrower on the 125 today for the first time. Maybe 6 inches of powdery snow, not the heavy wet kind....It came out of the chute with maybe a 2 to 3 foot throw....just cleared the width of the tractor, in big drifts, it bogged down and stopped. I slowed down to a crawl and that helped... but still seemed to stall and stop turning. I totally rebuilt the thrower this summer...everything spins free, and when you engage it, it looks like its really gonna throw the stuff...but it doesn't....it doesn't look like its losing rpm in the snow, except till you get to the big drifts. Belt is new and tight, i'm at a loss....PTO ran the mower just fine this summer, so i think the PTO is adjusted properly... Any suggestions? I'm at a loss..... Metalrain

My 125 with a cw36 blower blows the snow about 10 feet with the chute adjusted properly. To get it to do this the machine needs to be run in the "sweet spot" for the blower. The ideal speed seems to be when the motor is loaded down but not bogging. You have to balance keeping the blower full and not bogging the motor. I recently had to blow about 13 inches of compacted powder and had to go at a crawl or it would bog and slip the clutch (my clutch is probably slipping easier than it should), but it would throw the snow.

Are you running at full-throttle? It will also make a world of a difference if you paint the inside of the chute with graphite paint...I did this to mine and it easily doubled the distance the snow traveled. I can get about 15' if I've got the thrower full.
You may want to double-check the PTO and belt, particularly if you are talking about the thrower itself when you say it 'bogs down and stops'. Or do you mean the engine? Throwing snow is a LOT harder on the PTO clutch than cutting grass. My snowthrower is the only attachment I have that is capable of using all of my 782's 18 hp.

The thrower was painted with basecoat/clearcoat and waxed...a very slick surface being used for the first time. Its the thrower that bogs down or stops, not the motor. I'm running WOT, seems like the thrower puts no strain on the motor whatsoever....even when the thrower is bogging down, you can't tell it by the motor.... Metalrain

thats what happened to me with my 1650. went and tightened the belt now it throws good
