Default 1782 Charging issues
so the 1782 is starting with the key and everything now, but its not charging, and the indicator on the dash isn't working either, with a good bulb. Is there a worksheet to hunting down charging issues on it? I got the wiring diagram, but was hoping for a flow chart of stuff to check. I think the light should be on if its not charging. Thanks.

With the engine running and at full throttle, what Voltage do you see when measuring across the battery terminals with a VOM or DVM?

its reading 12.49, not real good.

the regulator is getting good ground and power, just need to borrow a good ac meter to check the alt output. guess that will determine if its the alt or the regulator.

If it turns out to be a bad regulator you may want to think about converting it to a Kohler regulator. These are the part numbers and prices from the Cub parts site

Kubota-RP201-53710 REGULATOR-VOLTAGE Price $217.51

Kohler-41-403-10-S RECTIFER-REGULATOR Price $61.56

If the one on my 2182 takes a dump this is what I'm going to do. One other possibility is to maybe go with a one wire mini alternator but that will require a bit of fabrication for the mounting.

well the alt on the kubotas puts out ac to the vr. gotta borrow a meter to check it. anyhow ran it awhile and the light in the dash is on, showing its not charging.
