I wanted to share some old pics on here.
My family was a farming family. Not only was it a job, it was a way of life. From little to big, we all got involved..... or at least got to ride! We ran nothing but IH equipment.... and subsequently, Cub Cadets. I hope you guys enjoy them! The first Cub my dad owned, was the one he got with the house, a 107. We lived in the farm house my great grandparents (my dads, dads, parents) built in 1962. G-Grandad got Parkinson's Disease, and had to quit farming and move to town. Mom and dad, got the house. They later bought it. Dad loved taking me for a ride, and I, apparently did too.... 1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg5.jpg In 1982, dad traded the 107 for his first new cub. A shiny new 782. It is the cub I and my brothers learned to first drive. That little tractor paved the way to move on to driving the bigger ones. In the second pic: My grandad on my mothers side, didn't like dad holding me on his lap while he was mowing, so he built this wagon and gave it to dad. It had carpet in the bottom and a little seat, and a canopy to keep the sun off. You could take the canopy and the carpet out and use it as a wagon. I still have the wagon. It doesn't look the same, as the running gear rotted off and I had to make a new one, but the old wood sides are still the original ones. If I can keep it together, it means a lot to me. My grandad passed away when I was about 13. The last pic, is of my brother (FlyingB) and dad. 6.jpg7.jpg 8.jpg I have more pics, but these are the ones I found quickly today while spending time at mom and dads for the holiday. Yes, cubs were a part of our lives, but I found as many or more pics of my dad, brothers and me on tractors, in combines, and the backs of trucks. Taking a walk in the fall through a bean field, or standing on a fence looking out at the hogs we raised. Farming was what made us our money.... but it also brought us together. Spending time together is what we did. Family is important guys. If you have to..... use your cub as a tool to spend time with your kids. I know I do! Who knows, maybe someday they will look back and remember, like I do now, and say.... "It wan't really about the tractor to 'ol dad.... it was about the time". ![]() (Me with my daughter, and my son.) 2013-07-28 16.01.26.jpg2013-07-28 15.59.54.jpg NOTE: Yes, my dad and I look absolutely identical. But the pics at the top are him, and the two on the very bottom are me. Uncanny, I know. ![]() |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
