Yesterday, New Year's Day I was out on the 71 once clearing the drive and the widowed grandma next door. Today the Lake Erie Snow Machine is in effect!
![]() The County plow truck came by around 6am this morning. Just now went by for the second time at 4:15pm ! The local schools were closed today. Getting all the snow I can imagine! I just got back in from the second go-around of pushing snow! Coming down pretty good, and has not let up! The 1/4 inch wheel spacers { thanks CCSpecialites } make a nice difference! No tire chains rubbing on the inside fender wells! New 2-link tire chains are a dream, and fit like a new Wilson baseball mitt,.... nice and tight! With the spring assist up grade, lifting the plow is much easier. { thanks Mike! }......... The IH wheel weights { thanks WildBill }mounted inside allows me to keep all the weight where it belongs, on the rims. Much improved machine over last year's set up! The 71 fires right up in this very cold weather, about 18* at the moment. There is no doubt I will be out for a third time today, as the snow is easier to handle when it is below 12 inches.

It's amazing what those 7 hp Kohler's are capable of doing! Nice looking set up and way to take care of the widow next door--kind acts are always in high demand and short supply!

Thank you Eric! With the blade positioned all the way to the right, I move along at about 1/2 throttle, keeping the charging system up on 14 volts, and running in second gear with the Iron Line 161 has the situation handled well!

Are those John Deere? I guess they are about 50 pounds each, and had originally thought they were Sears. I have the IH weights inside the rim. Thanks!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
