Hello everyone.... We'll, I've got the cub cadet fever... Always loved the great american tractor, and the best small ones built were by IH.. I've been in the Navy for over 24yrs, therefore moved a lot, but now that I'm about ready to retire bought me a 1975 cub cadet 1250 from my neighbor next door. He used to leave it outside all the time, and it just drove me crazy to see it sitting in the yard dealing with all the elements (rain, snow, ice, hot summer days), so when he said he was moving I asked him if he was going to take his cub... Luckily for me, he said no, so I said how much? He first said $600, I said it doesn't start, how about $300.00. He said he would think about it... Well, didn't take him long, and he came back to me saying I could have it for 300... He went on to tell me that he's giving me a bargain because he knew I would take care of the ol' cub... We'll, I'm giving it my best shot... She won't start yet, but hopefully with all the vast experience on this site, she will start soon... just in time for mowing season... Look forward to conversing and chatting with everyone on this site..

LSU/GSU; Having just resurrected a 1250 and a 1450 (both derelicts). I recommend that you start with a new fully charged battery and a multimeter and trace the 12v path. The Tractor tech section here will have a wiring diagram or Roland can send you one.
At the battery, start by going to the nearest auto supply store and get a 12"-14" "starter" cable and replace that old IH ground cable and move the frame ground point to that hole in the frame between the fender pan bolts. (NOTE: It worked when new but DO NOT include the fender pan in your frame ground connetion like IH did!!). Clean to bare metal and you 'll have good negative(-) ground to the frame. Check and make sure that there is a good frame to engine ground cable up at the right front. Myron B CCSupplyRoom |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
