Diesel block heater and glow plug timer
does anyone know of a block heater that fits the d600 in my 782d also i think the tractors newer than mine have a glow plug timer can one of those be made to work on my 782

Freeze plug style block heaters can be purchased by size. All you need to know is what size the freeze plug is you want to use. You can order them from most auto parts stores. Yes, I'm sure you could put a glow plug timer on your 782, but why? They are expensive and a PITA when they don't work right. Plus, you have to keep cycling the key....... I'd leave it alone. This (IMHO) is a classic case of simpler is better.

the freeze plugs look like they might only be 1/2 inch they are really small. didnt think they made them that small. ill see if i can get the calipers in there to measure on without taking it out. as for the GP timer i guess your rite K.I.S.S. is maybe better

I have a few questions first. If your tractor still uses the original dash indicator that is problem #1. If you did not do the glow plug upgrade that is problem #2. If you did not replace the starter with a gear reduction type, even the cheap $89 China made POS ones that I use, that is problem #3. If you did all that and it still won't start, give it more throttle. Mine will start at about 1/3 but I hear some guys almost go wide open. What temperature will yours not start at? did the relay upgrade that did not seem to help at all. also put new plugs in it also no help have not done the starter upgrade yet but thats next. the reason i asked about the timer was that even if i hold the plugs on for 60 seconds and the engine turns over ok i hardly get puffs of smoke outta exhaust. seems even preheat for 60 seconds dont seem long enuff. if i put turbo heater under it for 20 or 30 minutes it will start with almost no preheat. have not tried to give it throttle while cranking ill try that today or tomorrow
