I've been looking for an excuse to buy a set of Firestone flotation 23s for my 2182 but I found these 26-12-12 Carlisle R4 tires at surplus center for $80 which is cheap enough to have me considering them but I'd like to know how they would perform on something as light as a Super. I really don't need a really aggressive tire but I know our 8,000lb skid steer will spin on top of slick conditions.

Industrial lugs are better than turfs, but not as good as AG lugs. I don't own a set of Firestone 23° 's ..... yet..... but on an AG tractor, you can't get a better tire. The Tru-Powers aren't a bad tire either. If your getting them for traction, I'd go with the ags.

I was in the same situation, with the same dilemma not too long ago, after finding a set of Carlisle R4's for $100. There is a lot of discussion about this on the Kubota forums. R4's fall somewhere in the middle of a R1 (AG) and a R3 (turf), as far as traction. Google "R1 R2 R3 tires" and you'll find many answers. I went with Tru-Powers, for looks and they're only $200/set shipped. The Firestones do look better, IMO, and will offer better traction.

those tires might be a good choice for mowing and snow duty. but if your in the dirt plowing/tilling id go with AGs. most of the new sub-compact tractors come with similar tires to the R4.

I've got a set of the Firestone 23's on my 147 and love them. Been pushing the woods back, and blading it off. They dig in great. I've also been using them in the winter with a snow thrower on the 147 had them loaded with Rim Guard (83# each) and no chains. Will be getting another set for the 149 & 169.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
