Worth of a 1050
I was at the boneyard today and found a 1050.
The Good: Good frame, perfect hood and grill, good rear tires. trans was tight with no weird sounds when turning wheels,tractor has not been completely stripped yet. The Bad: seat and mounting bracket missing, rear fenders and steering wheel trashed by boneyard crew. carb, breather and starter missing, deck and mule drive are missing. Hiding it from my wife  I'm thinking about offering them $50 and see where it goes. I really don't need it but I do have a couple of 16hp twin engines sitting around and thought it might make a fun toy. Any opinions on these tractors and especially how tough are the transmissions?

Hi, if you have a good running 10hp they are alright. I have one. The trans has a bad rap for stripping 1&2 gears. Has a good rear carrier and axels that the pullers use. Best bet is to put in an old cast trans. I bought mine with a botched clutch install and stripped gears. I put in a cast trans and reworked the clutch and now have a good mower. Mike

I saw that too. I got the front rims off of it. They had good bearings. that was the only 1050 I have ever seen.I had to come home and research it. Looks like it was only made in 1989.

Well dang it I had decided not to buy the whole thing but was going to buy the wheels. I guess I can still buy the rears,lol. I'm going this week to see if it still has the safety switch for the seat.
