I love my old 1541, but absolutely hate the 46" deck hanging under it. If the grass is even just a little bit moist it will clump up under deck and I have to stop often and clean it out by hand. Also after mowing, my yard looks more like a hay field. My neighbors all have new zero turn mowers and theirs seem to do a lot better job of "chopping" the grass into smaller pieces whereas mine seems to discharge it whole and it lays on top of the grass and looks awful.
I'd really like to have a rear discharge deck and have thought about building one. I wouldn't have to worry about blowing my cut grass into the neighbors yard and wouldn't have to worry about throwing rocks into my house or car, or worse, the neighbors house or car. I could use newer, readily available spindles and blades as everything I need now is expensive and needs ordered.

What about gator/mulcher blades?
I haven't used them but they're probably available for your deck.

I'm gonna sound like a smart a$$ now, but...... if your yard looks like a hay field after mowing....... mow more often.

I use Gator blades for less grass buildup. I also don't rake when fall comes around, I just run over them until only little tiny pieces remain. A couple passes, maybe three over the remains is all it takes. I've also eliminated all blisters previously caused from raking... Love those Gators.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
