Default 1811 driveline question.

http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=c...&dn=0029900008

In the diagram above #13 has what best can be described as a heim joint with a hole through it for the drive shaft.

My question is should the part that the shaft goes through be held captive in the surrounding plate that has the four holes?
When I took mine out it was laying in the part that the flywheel bolt is in.
I can sort of snap it back in place but by feel I think when I slide the shaft into it, if the hole is not perfectly aligned, it would just push out and lay in the cup that the flywheel bolt is in.

Is mine just worn out?

This is on a 1811 to be clear.

Thanks.

Yep. Yours is shot. You need to replace it. Just like a heim joint, the ball isn't supposed to fall out.

Pretty much what it looked like to me.

Thanks for confirming that.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
