There four generations of 42" mower decks. The best and simplest way to determine what you have, is a PICTURE of the deck. ![]() Parts can be looked by here.... CCParts Lookup Site. Select Cub Cadet as the brand then the model of your tractor. A pop up will come up and look through the list to see your model and "select it". Click on this link for sources for tires........ Tires You can also place a "Want Ad" in our Classified Section and/or check out the Sponsors that are listed at the top of the page. I am sure members will have most of the items you are looking for. ![]()

Contact member Jeff in PA about a hitch. I ordered one along with lift pins and it is just great, way beefier than the brinly hitch. My newest addition is a 102, and I love it. You'll love the creeper for plowing, night and day difference over a gear drive tractor without one

Thanks for the welcomes! I have to admit I'm pretty excited about this lil tractor! It's a riot to ride and is going to be the workhorse to farm (plow, till, cultivate) all I can out of about half an acre. I took some pics to better explain the things tilling in my brain. You'll have to excuse the mud, we had a good romp around before dinner to proof roll things a bit.
Here are my questions I need resolved before I can get to the business end of this Cub: 1)Is there a sleeve hitch adapter that will fit over and around the PTO/ tiller belt/pulley exchange (or whatever it is called on back of the rear end) so I dont have to remove it every time I want to swap to the sleeve hitch and Brinly plow? 2) Does this look like the correct mower deck for the year '66 and what model is it? all I know is it is 42" from outside blades tip to tip. (This deck has not been mounted to the tractor far as I know but seems all is there.) 3) The tension pulley is seized but when I search for tension pulley I dont get satisfactory results. Does this pulley have a specific name like deck pulley or idler pulley? 4) I'm thinking of running a Deestone AG rear tire set up with tri-rib fronts for style and function since I'm sitting on some moist clay out here. If anyone has experience with Deestone or a similar set up Im interested in input. Thanks! |

Welcome to occ. I run deestones on my cub and really like them, they have great traction even on wet grass.

Thank you Tim. I figured at two for the same price as one Tru Power it would be a good way to see if that style worked for me. I will give them a shot.

The mower deck looks the same as what came on mine and I got mine from the original owner so I know it's the stock one.
You will have to take the gearbox off to use the hitch setup. I found it easier to just have a designated tiller tractor that way I'm not taking it on and off. Nice looking machine and tiller!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
