IH dealership
One of my hobbies in addition to Cub Cadets is model railroading; I tend to do this in the winter to keep myself sane during the winter blahs. I have a 12X8 layout in my basement that's loosely based on the N&W (Norfolk and Western) during the early 1960s in southern Ohio. This allows me to loosely model the midwest, which I grew up in (and still live in) but still have the motive power & such that belongs to the prototypical railroad.
ANYWAY... I had wanted an IH dealership on my layout for years, after seeing similar ones done in magazines. Generally they were just square buildings with some tractors out front and a few tractor related signs here and there. That really didn't cut it with me. The more research I did on the building dealerships that were prominent in the 60s, I knew I had to go with the pylon building that Raymond Lowey designed. No kits were available for this model, so I had to do a partial scratchbuilt. It started out as a supermarket kit that my brother got me for Christmas. http://www.micromark.com/RS/SR/Product/83934_R.jpg I used pieces of this for the dealership. There are various sheet styrene pieces, square plastic pieces were incorporated, and the pylon is a piece of pine block that has brick sheeting surrounding it. On to the pics...   The dealership doesn't exist in prototype: it is named after the best 40+ year experience IH mechanic that I know. (my dad)     Here it is on the layout. Still needs to be sceniced in (aka made to look like it belongs there and not just plopped in place)  ---Continued----

AWESOME looking setup! Feel free to share more pics of the whole thing, I for one love model setups. When I was a kid, (and now to some extent), I collected 1/64 farm toys with my dad. At one point, my bedroom was totally, and I mean TOTALLY, taken over by a diarama we set up. Had roads with gravel along the edges and everything. We even used stop motion to make a short video of a tractor driving down the road and turning into the driveway
 But I digress.Nice setup
