Default Good tech out there?

about 2006 SLT 1550. Been pullin my boat for years. Now, the wheels don't spin and dig up the ground. It just stays there and groans instead of pullin the boat. Also, rolls on a hill. I want my bear back! If I had a trouble shooting manual, I could take it apart and put it back together with what ever it needs. It hurts to see my best buddy aint what he used to be.
Preciate whatever you can tell me. Got the garage and all the tools. Thanks

First, welcome to OCC...

Second, YES, we have a lot of talented people here.

The LT1550 is a Lawn tractor. It was NOT designed to pull or engage implements. From the sound of your explanation, sounds like you toasted your transmission.

If you want to pull or use ground engaging implements....you need a Garden Tractor.

I agree with Roland, you used your lawn mower for something that it was not designed to do. Probably not something that you wanted to hear. The older garden tractors do an excellent job of pulling loads. I am partial to the older IH garden tractors. You can usually pick them up for a couple of hundred or so. Feel free to check the Trading Post section of the forum under For Sale to see if someone is selling one close to you or place an add in the Wanted section of the Trading Post.

Glad to have you as a member,

Cub Cadet 123

1st:

2nd: I moved your post to the LT section, LT = Lawn Tractor

3rd: I tend to agree with what the others have said. Your trans has probably gone to the tranny grave yard. You may be able to find a good used one from our sponsors at the top of the page Patton, Cub Classics or a member here rweaver. they all part out used Cubs. You may also be able to find a donor on Craig's list or E-Bay. Good luck and hope we can help.

4th: Maybe an oil and filter change will get it going again, I'll try to find out if that tranny is even serviceable, I don't know much about this model.

Looks like it may be serviceable from the looks of the pic. There are 2 different transmission numbers so I took a guess.

Welcome to OCC.

As the guys have said it may be possible to service the trans-axle in your 1550, but a good used one is probably in your future.

Please understand that my meaning here is not intended to be a "cheap shot" directed at you or your lawn tractor in any way, but if you have been happy with your 1550 over the years, you would really be in Heaven if you had a good old fashioned IH built garden tractor. I don't think you can imagine the abuse these old tractors can withstand, you'll never break one of them moving your boat around.

Good luck getting your 1550 going again.

I find it odd that they offered a snow blower and a blade for the 1500 series lawn tractors.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
