Question 1982 Cub Cadet

I have a 1982 Cub Cadet with original parts. It ran last season. I have learned about Cub Cadets with respect and don't want to just scrap it, if someone out would be interested in it. I am in New Jersey. Does anyone know if there is a reason this would interest Cub Cadeters? I would help someone continue on a tradition instead of scraping it. Please help.

Need more info about what it is that you wish to accomplish. Are you trying to sell or fix what you have?

I want to get rid of it. I will scrap it. If someone is interested, I would like to be treated fairly and I do value a good story. Since I received it, I just had learned enough that I don't want to destroy what might be interesting to others.

Let's see, can anyone think of a member in New Jersey that buys Cubs at or near scrap price?

My story. The machine came from the original owner after I did work for her. She had told me she thought the machine was from the 1970's, she knew she and her husband had bought it new and she used it up until she moved. The only thing that might be fishy is that maybe she did know it was the 80's, but she is long gone. I used it for the past three years. I did have someone who was recently interested in purchasing it and was the one whose information I was relying one when I posted the details. I had sent him a picture of the seriel number. The machine is what as is, but I need to get rid of it so this was my attempt. I will have no choice but to scrap it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
