LTX1040 with Blown Courage
I picked up an LTX1040 this morning with the back blown out of the block. I have a Briggs 12 hp flathead and a Kohler 15 hp Command that I can try to repower it with. It has a manual PTO so I don't have to worry about the stator being big enough, just need enough to charge the battery. If anyone else has replaced the Courage in a Cub LT I would be interested in comments or pictures. I think the muffler may be the biggest problem but I don't really know.

I'd say no but there's to much evidence to the contrary.
 My sons neighbor blew this thing up last year so I loaned him an old AYP LT to finish up the year and find another engine. My son called yesterday and told me the guy had bought a Zero turn and to come get this one and the one I loaned him. Cannon

Well I guess the place to start would be to download the dimensional drawings from Kohler and see if the Command will play.

I took the Courage out of the Cub today and the Command out of an old Craftsman. Looks like the balancer tried to escape and would have got away except for one arm that was holding it.
George, I already have better projects. Can't explain why I'm fooling with this. Cannon
