Hello everyone! Its been awhile since I've posted on here. The cub is running like a champ. But I am having issues with the light switch. If I turn on the switch the lights will turn on and then turn off....I have to play with the knob to keep the lights on...that only works for so long before they turn off. The contacts inside the switch must be wearing out. Has anyone ever taken it apart and work on them?

Save yourself some time, money and headache. Replace the switch.

I had the exact same problem with my switch on my 149. The local dealer ordered a Case switch instead of an IH one and saved me $5-10. Same switch just a few dollars in your pocket!!

![]() but I, like old skull, like to fix chit, lotsa satisfaction there. I have a similar if not the same Sw. on my farmall 400 TLB and sadly, it sits outside so when I need to use the lights I turn the Sw on/off multiple times and it works as it should, sometimes pushing on the knob helps also. I'm sure it is corrosion inside. When I fixed up my Farmall 806, (same Sw.) I took it apart and cleaned it inside and lubed it with silly-cone grease, that was 15+ years ago and it still is working fine. so it is your choice. Luck!! |

All good ideas. I think I'll push my luck and tear it apart and see if I can fix it. If not, oh well, I'll get a new one, or New Used one. Thanks guys!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
