Default Scored a sickle bar mower

I thought I would post some pictures of the 46 inch sickle bar mower I recently bought from a friend. He said he had used on his 1450 and thought it was for a White. I tried finding info on it and had no luck. Today he brought the operators manual and it shows a Simplicity GT on the cover, it is a model number 1690030 and fits many of their garden tractors. He said he attached it to his mule drive and lifted it with a chain. It shows a cable lift in the manual along with a pulley. I think I can fab a bracket to use the cable lift on my 782 beater I bought cheap and am fixing up just to run this mower. The spacing on the mount looks like it will bolt right up to my mule drive. This weekend I will see what it takes to set it up. I have been looking for a Haban for some time now and if you find one they want an arm and a leg for it. I am ashamed to say what I paid for it. Here are some pictures. It looks to be of a heavier construction than the Haban my brother has. Now I will be able to mow my road ditches that the township only does trice a year if I am lucky.

I thought it was a good deal. When I get the 782 that I am going to put it on back together I will post some pictures of how I adapt it to a cub cadet. I have a spare two valve hydraulic control and a lift cylinder and I think I will add a cylinder to it to raise the cutter bar for transport or to angle it to cut ditch banks. I am going to see if I can get started on it tomorrow.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
